Aside from its UK operations, Powersun develops solar PV sites in Greece through our sister company Wattcrop Hellas.

The RAE, Greece’s energy regulator, presented proposals for new renewable energy auctions earlier this year. The aim is to auction 300MW of solar PV, and a further 400MW of combined solar and wind during 2018. The same scenario is suggested for 2019.

At present, systems of 500kWp or smaller are excluded from the auction process and with the high levels of irradiance seen in Greece, (60% to  70% higher than in the UK),  investors’ models work well at this scale. Wattcrop  Hellas is targeting these sites, with several interested funds in the UK.
