Tech advice for solar PV
Solar irradiation in the UK varies from almost 1100kWh for every kWp installed in Cornwall, to the mid 700’s in more northern sites. With the reductions in cost which have been seen over the past few years, financial returns are still well into double figures.
Many panel manufacturers now design panels specifically to operate effectively at low light levels, ideal for the UK climate.
The UK grid operates at very close to the limit. Spare capacity in winter is no more than about 2%, so local solar generation helps to guarantee local capacity.
